It cannot be said more simply then this, without fundraising, the Better Day Alliance Foundation would not exist. Our aim is to make it as much fun as possible and to give back to our supporters as much as possible. We never forget how important supporters are to achieving the goals of the Better Day Alliance Foundation.
All funds we receive are used as efficiently as possible. We are a grass roots volunteer organization and there is no space for waste! Whether we get the funds from our spectacular annual Gala, new members to the organization, or a donation in honour of someone's birthday, every dollar is treated with the respect it deserves.
We have several revenue streams, however the one thing we do not do is accept any money from the government that was raised through taxation. Our aim is to bring in new money, not to use money that is already in the system and destined for other outlets. At the core of our beliefs is that we exist because individuals and corporations have made the conscious decision that we should.
Below is a list of the way's in which we fund the great work being done by the foundation. We are always open to new ideas so please contact our Director of Fundraising at lori@betterdayalliance.org if you have any suggestions.
Members are the life blood of the Better Day Alliance Foundation. These are the people that have made the statement, "I believe in what the BDAF is doing and I want to be a part of it!" Members receive entry into special member only raffles at events, discounted tickets to events, have a real say in the direction of the organization, and are invited to attend and vote at the Annual General Meeting.
By becoming a member you strengthen the BDAF in several very tangible ways:
It gives the BDAF more to offer corporate sponsors in terms of exposure.
It makes it easier to negotiate with suppliers for our various fundraisers and community projects.
It sends a clear message that the mission of the BDAF is important and will increase our visibility in the community.
The money raised from memberships helps promote and achieve the mission of the Better Day Alliance Foundation while ensuring its sustainability!
Special events are one of the Better Day Alliance Foundation's favorite ways to fundraise. Everyone always has a great time! These events range from the annual gala, to our Halloween parties, to unbelievable world records! People are busy and money is always tight for a lot of people, but no one ever regrets coming out to one of our special events! You always get your money's worth AND get to help a worthy cause!

Third party fundraisers are incredibly beneficial to the Better Day Alliance Foundation. This is when someone who is not necessarily a volunteer with the BDAF organizes an event or other type of fundraiser to benefit the BDAF. Third party fundraisers provide the foundation with more funds to do community projects without tapping into the limited human resources of the organization.
One example of this would be when Canaccord Capital included the BDAF in a weekly 50/50 draw at their office.
Other ideas for third party fundraisers are:
Raise funds at the office holiday party.
Host a party and ask guests to make a donation at the door.
Speak with a restaurant about donating a portion of sales for an evening to the Better Day Alliance Foundation and in exchange you offer to bring all your family and friends.
Organize a chocolate bar sales campaign using your children, friends, sports team or social group as salesmen. These campaigns can be very successful and selling just 20 boxes raises over $500.00! For more information click here.
We are a vehicle for your generosity. We have the ability to find out from a front-line level exactly what it is that an organization needs to provide the people they serve with some exciting and wonderful experiences and we can do it in a way that ensures it does not vanish into the "black hole" of administrative expenses. 100% of the grants we issue must be used for the purpose of providing whatever special event or program that the agency has requested it for.
There are several types of donations that people make.
Donate in honour of someone else. We will send them a letter acknowledging the donation and there is no better way to commemorate mile stones then with a charitable donation that spreads the joy, or honours the memory.
Donate in honour of guests at a special function such as a wedding, Bar Mitzvah or Christening. We are happy to provide table cards or individual notes for each guests to meet your needs. One wedding had a special request and we made individual scrolls acknowledging the gift that fit into the small box of chocolates that they gave each guest at their wedding guests.
Donations of items or services. While we are happy to receive these donations, often they make excellent raffle prizes or additions to a community project, we should be consulted regarding the tax receipt that you are expecting for an item or service before you make the donation. This is due to strict laws governing the use of tax receipts for items and services that are in place for good reason, but tend to make life just a bit more complicated for this sort of donation! If no tax receipt is required we are happy to accept any and all donations of services or items.
